Just because Mel lives in New Whitby, a city founded by vampires, doesn't mean she knows any of the blood-drinking undead personally. They stay in their part of town; she says in hers. Until the day a vampire shows up at her high school. Worse yet, her best friend, Cathy, seems to be falling in love with him. It's up to Mel to save Cathy from a mistake she might regret for all eternityOn top of trying to help Cathy (whether she wants it or not), Mel is investigating a mysterious disappearance for another friend and discovering the attractions of a certain vampire wannabe. Combine all this with a cranky vampire cop, a number of unlikely romantic entanglements, and the occasional zombie, and soon Mel is hip-deep in an adventure that is equal parts hilarious and touching.Acclaimed authors Justine Larbalestier and Sarah Rees Brennan team up to create a witty and poignant story of cool vampires, warm friendships, and the changes that test the bonds of love.

If you're looking for a funny light read this is it. Team Human was both enjoyable, and hilarious.
The main character Mel, was such a great one. I really loved how she was. She was strong, and had such a great sense of humor. She was such a loyal friend but, then you have Cathy. I liked, and didn't like her. I thought she could have been a little more something. It was like as soon as this vampire, Francis came along she lost all reality with life, and was kinda mean to Mel. Mel, was only trying to help her stay Team Human, so she does all that she can to break Cathy of this thing she has going on with Francis. Of course Cathy wasn't having that. She was mesmerized by the vampire. Mel's dislike of vampires is very clear from the beginning. She just cannot fathom ever becoming a vampire. But these are not your "normal" vampires. They have these crazy ways about them. The things they do. If you want a change of the "oh so serious" vampires, I definatly suggest you read Team Human. I mean, the vampires run around in Hazmat suites during the day. Can't picture it? Here you go:

Mel also makes it her mission to help her friend, Anna find out exactly what is going on with her mom. Why is she acting so weird lately? Ever since Anna's father disappeared she has been acting wonky. So that brings in the mystery of Team Human. & the conclusion will throw you off, I know it did me. But I thought that it was a great way to bring every thing that happened in team human together!
After Mel meets Kit, a human boy who has been raised by vampires. Mel's views on everything start to change. Maybe vampires are not as bad as she has always thought. Together Kit & Mel learn more about each other's life, and in the end that wall shatters a little, and they each open their eyes to see that maybe humans, and vampires are not at all so bad, and clearly not what they would have expected!
I thought that Mel & Kit were a great duo.

Team Human is just a great book. You will enjoy the main character, and her wittiness. The other characters were very enjoyable as well. There is mystery, humor, and maybe even a little love. I suggest Team Human to everyone. I think you will thoroughly enjoy this book.
