After the grand explosion of her relationship, seventeen-year-old Max Scott developed what every girl in the history of the world has been waiting for: a way to get over being dumped. Now Max is the go-to guru for heartbroken high-school girls all over NYC. But when her ex unexpectedly shows up in her neighborhood, Max’s carefully controlled world starts to unravel. With her clients’ hearts hanging in the balance, Max will have to do the seemingly impossible: get over him once and for all.Brilliant at bringing humor to the trials and tribulations of the lovestruck, #1 New York Times bestselling authors Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus have crafted a tale that will resonate with any girl who has ever been in love or had her heart broken. It brims with smart observations, features a pitch-perfect teen voice, and will attract fans of Jenny Han, Sarah Mlynowski, and Lauren Barnholdt. Readers are sure to fall head-over-heels for this sharp spin on breaking up, making up, and getting even.

This wasn't what I was expecting from this book. I was a little let down.
The main character Max runs this program Ex Inc, with her best friends. Where she helps girls who are dragging their selves down after a tough breakup. She goes in prepared to give them this speech that will shake them, and wake them back up to reality to start the healing process to get over "said" boy.
Max seemed to be a very well put together character. But that was not the fact, she was not fully over her ex, to be giving these girls the speech. I loved that she was trying to help people, but she also maybe needed to listen to her own speech a little more...
I liked Max & Ben, I thought that was a great thing for Max, until she runs into Hugo her ex, and then it's like she knows she is not over him, and, really I'm not sure. She has these friends that want to help her, but Max is so dag on stubborn, that she never listens. & just keeps all those feelings inside. Which is never a good thing, and that is something that usually makes every relationship for Max hard. Max wants all her clients to have their moment. When they move on from the relationship, and do not hold onto anything anymore. But the one who really needs to have a moment is Max. But will she ever get there?
What will come of Ben? Or will she end up with the idiot called Hugo?!
Over You was less then what I was expecting. The switching of pov's was a tad crazy, and confusing at times. And for the main character, it just seemed to take Max to long to grow and by the time I felt a slight connection with her, an understanding the book was over. For me this was not a winner, but maybe for you it will be.

  2. Hmmm. This sounds like a movie I've seen before, but I can't remember the name....
Sorry you didn't enjoy this book much! Great interview, though. I guess it's a good thing I don't read much contemporary ;D Plus, there's a love triangle type thing?! Oh, no. Those things drive me insane.
    Cheers!

  6. Aw I'm sorry you didn't like this one. It wasn't really on my radar but I actually love the sound of Max. I went through a phase very similar to what she has to deal with in the book so I think I would understand her and connect with her. Lol it is funny how you didn't like it but I actually think I might enjoy it.

    Thanks for the awesome review!
