There are things that I liked & there are things that I did not like, but honestly I liked more then I didn't. But, the things I didn't like took it down a little bit. But still a very "enjoyable" read! When literature student Anastasia Steele is drafted to interview the successful young entrepreneur Christian Grey for her campus magazine, she finds him attractive, enigmatic and intimidating. Convinced their meeting went badly, she tries to put Grey out of her mind - until he happens to turn up at the out-of-town hardware store where she works part-time.The unworldly, innocent Ana is shocked to realize she wants this man, and when he warns her to keep her distance it only makes her more desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her - but on his own terms.Shocked yet thrilled by Grey's singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success – his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving adoptive family – Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a passionate, physical and daring affair, Ana learns more about her own dark desires, as well as the Christian Grey hidden away from public scrutiny. Can their relationship transcend physical passion? Will Ana find it in herself to submit to the self-indulgent Master? And if she does, will she still love what she finds?Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy is a tale that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever.
That is that. I know there is a lot of people huffing & puffing over this book, but here is the bottom line for me:
"I Loretta, enjoyed Fifty Shades of Grey"
Enjoyed yes! Did I "LOVE" it? No, I didn't LOVE it. But I didn't "HATE" it either! So if you did not that is FINE. But, if you did like it, great. I have seen things on GR, about if you read this you are not classy, you're nasty, you're this & you're that.. Yeah, ummm.. ok! If YOU say so. I am who I am, and you not liking a book I liked does not change ME. Sorry.
What was Fifty Shades about? Was it out of this world amazing? What was it about it that "I" liked?
Fifty Shades of Grey is about Ana, a young woman who hasn't experienced much in her life. Nothing even remotely sexual. She goes to school, works, and hangs out with her friends. About it.That is until she one day meets Christian Grey, at an interview which she was forced to go to because, her friend could not. Besides making a fool of herself during the interview, she feels very strange around Christian. There is something about him, something dark, yet alluring that pulls Ana in. Ana has not really had any interest in guys. So for her this is ... strange.
Christian Grey is a very successful man; even for his age he seems to have accomplished a lot more than the normal guys his age would have.
Even after their meeting Ana cannot get Christian out of her mind. She would like to, knowing she will never see him again. But she cannot, and then when he walks into her job, to buy some very ... question asking items. Ana & Christian are seeing each other more and more after that. But what Ana finds out about the mysterious Mr. Grey will surprise her, and rock her world all at the same time. Christian Grey has a little secret no one knows about. He has his rules, his way. He is very blunt, and wants what he wants, WHEN he wants it. But even with him there is something with Ana that draws him back a little from his normal ...punishment. Does Christian have some sort of feelings for Ana as well? I guess you will have to read & find out.
As for the characters, this is sort of the parts, which I did not like. Ana.. poor Ana. Here she is this normal, boring girl and then Christian comes along, changes everything and she then turns into this "mad, crazy needy woman" in a way. And that was a little annoying. She had a "need" ... a "want" & I understand that, but... she was just.. at times very annoying. And in love way to fast. I just wanted to keep yelling, you're not in love, you're just addicted to the sex, there is a difference there Ana. But I guess you cannot expect anything more for the girl who what thrown into the red room of pain. ;) But then again, I loved how Ana thought things through, and said NO this is what you will not do, or I won’t sign! (Sign what you ask? Oh, you'll have to read to find out, but it is a part of Christian's secret.) & it was like she was fighting with her "inner goddess" all the time, which was funny!! It was like she was 2 people fighting all the time. Inner Goddess usually won that one! ;)
Christian. Mr. "Demanding". He was oh so demanding, and not just at the right moments, all the time. Literally. I mean sometimes, ok that is fine.. BUT there is a line dude, that once you cross you seem kind of too much to handle. There are things that he did, and said, that if this wasn't a "Book" and I was placed in that situation... home boy would not be walking properly, and it wouldn't be because of anything good... yeah. But, I thought that he was hot. Yes, I didn't compare him to EDWARD, seeing as how... me not knowing this was "fan fiction" at first, but still.. I couldn't imagine Edward doing those things... ever.
Like I said, I have never read “Fan Fiction” that I know of. I mean I honestly didn’t know this was fan fiction. But, who cares. I don’t.
I have read plenty of erotica books, which were less of a story and more “just” sex. I liked them too. Although there were a lot of sexual moments between the characters, it had a story with it. Ana's life out when she wasn't with Christian. I really liked her friend. They were characters that had problems, secrets, and feelings. Characters in which you got to know. No, this may not be the book for everyone. I understand that. To each is their own, right? There were plenty of parts that made me blush a bit, or be like Omg, no way.... really? But overall this was not a BAD book. I have read worse books then this, and they were not “fan fiction” so what does that have to do with anything?
If you are a fan of erotica, or even if you want to take a dip into the “naughty” books, try it. If you choose not to because of others, but you want to anyway, then try it, and don’t tell anyone. Idk, but I plan on in the future continuing the series, because I want to know what happens.
