My name is Katniss Everdeen. Why am I not dead? I should be dead.Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived, even though her home has been destroyed. Gale has escaped. Katniss's family is safe. Peeta has been captured by the Capitol. District 13 really does exist. There are rebels. There are new leaders. A revolution is unfolding. It is by design that Katniss was rescued from the arena in the cruel and haunting Quarter Quell, and it is by design that she has long been part of the revolution without knowing it. District 13 has come out of the shadows and is plotting to overthrow the Capitol. Everyone, it seems, has had a hand in the carefully laid plains--except Katniss. The success of the rebellion hinges on Katniss's willingness to be a pawn, to accept responsibility for countless lives, and to change the course of the future of Panem. To do this, she must put aside her feelings of anger and distrust. She must become the rebels' Mockingjay--no matter what the personal cost.
My Thoughts:
After being in the Hunger Games, and surviving 2 times. Katniss is done. After being "taken" out of the last Hunger Games. Peeta was left behind. Only to get captured by the Capitol. And used against Katniss. He was her weakness, and President Snow knew what he was doing. District 12 is gone. No longer the home Katniss has known. Ashes are left. Bodies are what decorates the Districts grounds. The bombs leaving really nothing left behind but the Victors homes. The place that she and the friends and family that are alive, is District 13. The place where The Capitol said there was.. nothing. There are people there.. and Katniss must make the decision to become the Mockingjay. Katniss will have battles to fight. People that she loves to protect. She will loose friends along the way. But her one goal. The one thing that Katniss wants more then anything.. assassinate President Snow.
But when the times comes. What will Katniss do? Who will she trust. Better yet, who will deceive her?
Mockingjay was a more on the slower side. It took me a bit to actually get into Mockingjay. But, after some time Suzanne Collins had your face placed back into the book turning that pages, needing to know what was going to happen.
Katniss went from being depressed to doing what she needed to do. She was strong as always. Not ever knowing what laid in front of her.
Near the ending of Mockingjay Katniss will lose someone near and dear to her. Leaving her lost. Leaving her unable to forgive.
Katniss never making a choice at the end, is what I didn't really like.. She just knew she could never forgive. But, never a choice ever came out of her mouth. It was like she was saying "your left.. so, yeah" That is really the only part I did not like.
Other then that I thought that Mockingjay was a great addition to The Hunger Games.
I am sad to see that the series for me has finally come to an end.

I am so jealous..I am hoping to read this sometime this month..if I am good and finish up all my reviews, it will be my treat to myself..LOL
ReplyDeleteGreat review!
I love this series. Glad you loved it too!
ReplyDeleteI love this series also! :) But first two books are better than this one in my opinion! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat review
Tanja @ Ja čitam, a ti?
I didn't love Mockingjay as much as the other two in the series, but it was certainly a thought provoking conclusion.
ReplyDeleteI was so sad to see this series end, but I do wish a little bit more was done for the ending/epilogue. But all in all it is still one of my favorite series. Thanks for the great review :)
ReplyDeleteI did have some issues when I read this one back in 2010. I had loved our kick ass girl the whole way through but in this one she steps back from that. We know she can fight but often times in this one she refuses to step up to the plate. She doesn't actually want to be the Girl On Fire, the Mockingjay, she backs down from the role.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that in the end she never made a choice, she just said well hey you are it so I guess this is where I'm going to park my ass for the rest of our lives. It wasn't really like she picked that it just was easier than putting any more effort into life. She basically just gave up in the end. I know all Katniss wanted to do was save her sister and possibly live a normal life which I guess is why she has the ending she did in Mockingjay, it was just not that special though.
Idk I have mixed feelings on this and maybe one day if I were to re-read this book I might feel differently, who knows.
I'm glad the blogging world finally got you to read this series and that you enjoyed it the whole way through. Thanks for the great review!
Told you it was a little slower!!! Lol
